Goals will hinder long term progress

These 3 things will make you understand why we should focus on the PROCESS instead of the GOAL
Here are three important reasons why we should focus more on the “process” in achieving success:

1. Goals will reduce happiness

When we are trying to achieve a goal, we often say, ” I’m still not good enough, but I will achieve my goal”

The problem with this mindset is that you teach yourself to put some joy and success on the back burner, until the next achievement is achieved.

When I have reached my goal, I will definitely be happy, satisfied. When I have reached my goal, I will succeed”

Solution: Focus on the process, not the goal.

Choosing a goal will put a huge burden on your shoulders

Can you imagine if I set a goal to have more Database than 5K in savings before the end of the year?

Want to save RM100 a month is not necessarily yet.

But we do this to ourselves all the time.

We put unnecessary pressure on ourselves to lose weight, or prepare a best-selling novel.

On the other hand, you can make things easy and reduce stress by just focusing on the daily process and sticking to the schedule.

.. than we are busy worrying about big and life-changing goals.

When we only focus on doing rather than achieving, you can enjoy every moment and improve at the same time.

You might think that goals will keep us motivated in the long run, but that’s not always true.

For example people who are training to participate in a marathon

Database

Many people will work hard for months, but Phone Lead eventually after they finish the run, they stop training.

(The same goes for students who study hard just to face exams)

Their goal is to finish the marathon and they have completed it, so that goal will no longer motivate them.

When all our hard work is solely because of one goal, what is left to keep pushing us forward once we have achieved it?

This will create a ‘yo-yo effect’ where a person’s motivation to work on one goal goes up and down.
